Pakistan Company Search Guide 2026: How to Verify a Pakistani Business

TL;DR. Pakistan’s official company registry interface is SECP eServices at https://eservices.secp.gov.pk. A SOCKS GET of the apex returned HTTP 200 with a meta-refresh to /eServices. A SOCKS GET of https://eservices.secp.gov.pk/eServices returned HTTP 500 (IBM error). That is not an SSL timeout 000. https://www.secp.gov.pk returned HTTP 200 (title Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan) as the agency site, not an observed eServices search form. Instant leftover is dropped. PKR 200-3000 figures are not live-citable from that wall. priceMax 0 means Unknown, not verified free. Visa/Mastercard leftover is dropped. Direct GET of fatf-gafi.org HTTP 200 (title Home) and black-and-grey-lists.html HTTP 200. The 19 June 2026 Increased Monitoring HTML does not name Pakistan. The DEC-055 harness at this tip returns Direct 200 / SOCKS 200.

What is the official Pakistan business registry?

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) maintains Pakistan’s central company registry under the Companies Act 2017. SECP is an autonomous regulatory body established under the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Act 1997. The public registry interface named in this guide is the SECP eServices portal at https://eservices.secp.gov.pk. A SOCKS GET of the apex returned HTTP 200 with a meta-refresh to /eServices. A SOCKS GET of /eServices returned HTTP 500 (IBM error). The agency site https://www.secp.gov.pk returned HTTP 200. This check does not invent a working eServices search URL past that 500.

The SECP registers all companies incorporated in Pakistan: private limited companies, public limited companies, single-member companies (SMCs), holding companies, non-profit companies (Section 42 entities), and foreign company branches. Partnerships and sole proprietorships are not registered with SECP; they register with provincial authorities under applicable provincial laws.

The primary company identifier in Pakistan is the Company Incorporation Number (CUIN), a seven-digit number assigned by SECP at incorporation. The CUIN appears on the Certificate of Incorporation and all subsequent SECP filings. Separately, the National Tax Number (NTN), issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), serves as the tax registration identifier. The NTN is a separate system from SECP.

SECP also maintains the register of Licensed Non-Banking Finance Companies (NBFCs), investment advisers, and securities brokers under the securities law framework, but the primary company registry function is the Companies Registry accessed through eServices when that host is reachable.

eServices /eServices returned HTTP 500 on the SOCKS GET. Historic field lists (name, CUIN, director name, Form A, Form 29) are not live-cited as a working UI. Do not treat www.secp.gov.pk as the live search form.

When /eServices is a working search, the register’s filed contents have historically included company name, CUIN, company type, date of incorporation, registered office, status, and authorised capital. That is description of the filing record, not a walkthrough of a 200 form on this check.

PKR 200-3000 figures are not live-citable while https://eservices.secp.gov.pk/eServices returns HTTP 500. Instant leftover is dropped. Credit card, debit card, online banking, Visa, and Mastercard were not observed on a working eServices search page and are dropped. priceMax 0 means Unknown, not verified free.

Do you need a local account or ID?

Account rules were not live-citable: /eServices HTTP 500. Historic copy that basic search needed no registration, and that paid downloads used an email plus OTP, is not a live cite from this check. CNIC leftover as a search-account rule is not restated as live. accountRequired is not encoded as Optional.

Is the website in English?

Yes is the frontmatter value carried from SECP’s English working language. English chrome on the /eServices search UI was not observed (HTTP 500 IBM error). The agency site www.secp.gov.pk returned English title “Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP)” on this check.

What’s the turnaround time?

Unknown. Instant leftover is dropped. No download path was observed on eServices.

Is there an API?

No public API is available for SECP eServices as of this check. SECP has not announced an API access programme for commercial compliance platforms on the live www.secp.gov.pk HTML fetched here.

What you legally cannot do

SECP’s Terms of Use and the Companies Act 2017 prohibit bulk automated extraction from the eServices portal when that portal is reachable. Pakistan’s Personal Data Protection Act 2023 governs the handling of personal data, including director names and addresses sourced from registry records. Processing this data for unsolicited marketing is prohibited.

Redistribution or resale of SECP-certified documents as a commercial data product without SECP authorisation is not permitted. Compliance buyers accessing SECP data for their own CDD, KYC, or AML workflows are within the intended use, subject to documentation of the stated purpose.

Practical tips for foreign compliance buyers

  • CUIN is the anchor identifier. The Company Incorporation Number is unique and static. Request the CUIN from your counterparty. It appears on the company’s Certificate of Incorporation.
  • NTN is separate. The National Tax Number issued by FBR is distinct from the CUIN. iris.fbr.gov.pk was not live-checked on this scout.
  • FATF. A Direct GET of fatf-gafi.org returned HTTP 200 (title Home). Direct GET of black-and-grey-lists.html returned HTTP 200 (title “Black and grey” lists). The 19 June 2026 Jurisdictions under Increased Monitoring HTML does not name Pakistan. The DEC-055 harness at this tip returns Direct 200 / SOCKS 200.
  • Single-member companies (SMC). Pakistani SMCs have a single shareholder. Conduct enhanced due diligence on the sole shareholder when transacting with an SMC.
  • Branch offices. Foreign company branches registered with SECP are listed separately from their parent.

Alternatives if you cannot access SECP eServices directly

The live wall on eServices is SOCKS HTTP 500 on /eServices after an HTTP 200 apex meta-refresh.

  • www.secp.gov.pk: Live HTTP 200 agency site. Not an observed eServices search form.
  • Aggregator search (indicative only): OpenCorporates indexes some Pakistani company data sourced from SECP. Data lags the primary source.
  • Local corporate service providers: Pakistani law firms and corporate secretarial companies retrieve documents when eServices is reachable.

Local data suppliers

  • Dun & Bradstreet Pakistan (dnb.com). D&B issues D-U-N-S Numbers for Pakistani entities and provides company intelligence reports covering incorporation data, financial indicators, and trade payment history.

  • Pakistan Credit Rating Agency (PACRA) (pacra.com). PACRA is an SEC-registered credit rating agency providing entity-level credit ratings for Pakistani financial institutions and corporates.

Use SECP eServices for the authoritative legal filing record when the host is reachable. Use PACRA or D&B when you need credit ratings or payment behaviour layered on top of the registry extract.

FAQ

Can a foreign company access the Pakistan SECP registry directly?

Not on this check. A SOCKS GET of https://eservices.secp.gov.pk returned HTTP 200 with a meta-refresh to /eServices. A SOCKS GET of /eServices returned HTTP 500 (IBM error). Instant leftover is dropped. This check does not invent a working eServices search URL past that 500.

What is the CUIN number in Pakistan?

The Company Incorporation Number (CUIN) is the seven-digit unique identifier assigned to every company registered with SECP at the time of incorporation. It appears on the Certificate of Incorporation and all SECP filings.

What entity types are registered with SECP?

SECP registers private limited companies, public limited companies, single-member companies, Section 42 companies (non-profit), foreign company branches, and certain other regulated entities such as NBFCs and investment funds. Sole proprietorships and general partnerships are not registered with SECP.

Does Pakistan have a beneficial ownership (UBO) registry?

Not live-cited on this check (/eServices HTTP 500). Do not invent a public UBO search from that wall. Historic copy that companies must maintain a beneficial ownership register is not treated as a live public-search cite.

How current is the data in SECP eServices?

Not live-cited while /eServices returns HTTP 500.

Is Pakistan on the FATF grey list?

No.

What is the difference between SECP and the FBR tax system?

SECP is the company registrar and securities regulator. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) maintains the tax system, including NTN. A valid SECP registration does not confirm tax compliance.
